Issue 03 is currently on hold while the editor takes care of some personal matters. If you have not received a reply regarding your submission, please be patient or simply email us your retraction. Thanks for your understanding. Lung has not ended our journey, just hit a small bump in the road. We’ll be back and look forward to serving you up some fresh poetry in the near future.

Issue 03 Update

Hi everyone,

It’s been a busy month for me outside of Lung, but I make no excuse for being late with this issue. I’ve simply fallen behind and the submissions have doubled from the last issue. I still have another couple hundred submissions to read through and I want to give every poem the critical eye it deserves.

I plan to have all notifications out within the next week or two. If you haven’t heard from me regarding your submission, fear not, I’m getting to it and will be in touch over the next couple weeks. I plan to publish the issue sometime in the first half of February. I promise you, another intriguing issue is on the way!

Issue 03 Update

I hope you all had a great holiday. The issue 03 deadline for submissions has been extended to January 15th. I’ll be shooting for a January 20th release.

Issue 02

Out of over 600 submissions I believe I’ve found the perfect 30 voices to represent our vision for this issue. This does not mean the countless others were not wonderful works of poetry. It simply means they did not fit Issue 02. That was a wild month of reading and my eyes are sore, but it’s a good sore. I was extremely humbled by the sheer amount of contributions and warm notes shared by everyone that emailed me. Thanks again and be sure keep submitting for Issue 03.

I will now be separating myself from the inbox for a couple weeks, so don’t fret if I don’t get back to you for a while. I need the time off to gather my thoughts for Issue 03 (December release) and where I want to go with it.

Enjoy Issue 02 next week and please, keep promoting Lung and other small presses, we count on your voice to stay alive!

15 poets selected so far out of 425 submissions (and counting). Have not sent out acceptance letters yet, so if there’s nothing in your inbox, it could be a good thing. Thanks again for all the continued support. Our sophomore effort will be posted online on the 20th with a beautiful cover by an amazing artist.

200 and counting

Hi everyone,

I’ve been reading submissions for issue 02 all day and need to stop in fear of losing my retinas for good. Unfortunately only 4 out of 200 read today were selected. This made me sad, so I’m going to stop here and read more in a few days. There are still a good 75 in my inbox, so please be patient. I have not notified the few that I’ve selected, however I’ve notified everyone that was not selected if you submitted on or before the 13th. So, if you submitted before the 13th and there is nothing in your inbox from me, this could be good news! Give me another two weeks and I will send out the emails that make me happy, the congratulatory ones.

If you have not submitted yet, get on it!!!

Inaugural Issue Published

I lied. We’re publishing the inaugural issue a day early. Our first issue of Lung is now live at www.lungpoetry.com. Please give it a read and come back here to leave us your thoughts. I’m very proud of the results and hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Submissions closed for inaugural issue

Hi everyone,

After close to 400 poetry submissions and fried retinas I’ve closed submissions for this issue. I selected 19 poets and I’m looking forward to sharing them with you. Each poet has a unique voice and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I think our first effort is filled with eclectic but uniting subtext to keep you engaged and fascinated with the rhythm of the issue.

I’ll post the issue tomorrow afternoon. If you were not accepted into this issue please re-submit fresh work around the 20th of September. I will try to publish the 2nd issue in late October, depending on the strength of submissions.

Deadline and Day One

With the unexpected amount of submissions I’ll have to re-define a few things a little more so there’s no confusion. The submission deadline to be published in our inaugural online issue is now August 31st. Selection letters will go out on September 3rd and the issue will go live on September 5th. I’ve been sending out rejection letters within 72 hours of submission so if you haven’t received yours, that might be good news. Thanks again for all the submissions. It’s been a humbling experience so far and I’ve been floored by many of the voices out there. Bravo.

What NOT to write in your submission.

We’ve surpassed the 250 mark for submissions. I wanted to point out some interesting quotes so far that have been included in some of these queries. Please try to avoid adding this information in your submission:

“I get turned down like 95% of the time”

“Hit me back if you really want a bio”

“I think you need to spruce up your website”

“I don’t really give a fuck what you do with these”
